CHARITY WANTS VOLUNTEERS

The North West Cancer Research Fund is looking for volunteers to start a new committee in their local area.� Presently, the charity has 42 local committees across North and mid Wales and the North West of England.� Without the efforts of dedicated volunteers the work of North West Cancer Research Fund could not continue.� Every year the charity makes between �750,000 and �1 million available for research into the causes of cancer and virtually all money is raised through voluntary efforts and donations.
Not only is setting up a committee rewarding, it is also enjoyable. From organising fashion shows to coffee mornings and sponsored runs, there really is no end to the ways that you can raise money.� Volunteering appeals to anyone from any walk of life, as our volunteers can tell you.� Anne Jackson, 35, founding member of the Warrington Committee says: �Volunteering for the charity gives me an overwhelming feeling of having achieved something very worthwhile, and it takes up very little of my time.��
Helen Dring, 70, Vice-Chairman of the Wirral committee says: �Many of the volunteers of North West Cancer Research Fund have been personally affected by cancer themselves and find that being part of a committee is highly rewarding � giving something back to fund valuable research that has changed their lives.�
By becoming a volunteer, you will become part of a community of volunteers across the region who can offer support, advice and friendship.� Volunteering can offer all sorts rewards, not least knowing that you are helping fund local research that really makes a difference.
So if cancer is a cause close to your heart, and you feel you can give up a fraction of your time to help others then why not get in touch, you could start your own committee or simply join an existing one.
