Real-life Stories

Laura's Story

There my Mother sat all in pain,
Wondering, will she ever see her little girl again.
Full of Cancer and tumours,
The little girl started to hear the rumours .
Was my Mummy dying,
If not, why was she crying?
Dont cry Mummy, I said,
Not knowing that the cancer had spread,
What was cancer anyway? Im just a little girl,
My head was all in a whirl.
My Mummy came in to say goodnight,
Weve got to get up early and bright.
Were going to see the Doctor you see, cause Ive got an illness inside of me.
It will be all better in the morning,
hopefully I will see the next day dawning.
What did my Mummy mean, I wondered,
My Mummys strong, she will live until shes 100.
Why are we going to the hospital Mummy?
She just said, dont worry hunny.
Ive just got to have a few tests, you will see it will be for the best.
Six months had past, my Mummy was better at last.
That night, I heard my Mummy talk to the man in the sky,
Thank you God, for it is not my time to die.
I have my little girl you see, shes like a beautiful growing tree.
Everlasting beauty, she is my little cutie.
My Mummy kept to her word, thanks to Cancer Research.
